INTRODUCTION

This is an ESP course offered to the students of the Department of Forensic Science and Criminalistics of the Institute of Law, Economics and Administration at the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków. Within their 110 hour general English course, they are supposed to do a certain amount of hours of English for Specific Purposes each term. This course covers 10 hours of ESP.

The aim of this course is for students to gain a better understanding of forensic science and criminalistics, related fields within the broader domain of forensic science, but having distinct focuses and areas of expertise.

Although this course is intended not so much to deepen the students' knowledge of this interdisciplinary field that incorporates various sciences, including biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, forensic toxicology, forensic serology, and other specialized area or the rules and regulations regarding public safety as such, but rather to develop the English language competence required for such specialised content. 

By the end of this course you will have practised reading, listening and writing skills and you will have extended your knowledge of specialist terminology through the whole range of interesting texts, vocabulary exercises and original talks related to the subject. The main focus of grammar is on the use of tenses, word formation with the focus on adjectives and question formation.
