The aim of the present course in phonology is to help the students systematize their knowledge of English phonetics acquired earlier during their undergraduate studies, acqaint them with the principles of functional phonology, including the theory of distinctive features, and to familiarize them with the basic relations between the phonology and the morphology of English.
